The numbered photo slots are the cast list. Tap a face marker or a photo frame to assign that performer; all five photos are required. You can also choose from your private photo history or transfer photos from your phone.

This template uses adaptive framing and automatically follows the reference duration, about 19.03 seconds. The creator does not offer a 9:16 or 15-second switch. Use the CapCut walkthrough below if you need that final format.

1. Lead singer
Photo 1 is the lead. Use a clear, well-lit face with an unobstructed mouth; this is the performance viewers will look at first.
2. Keyboard player
Photo 2 replaces the keys player. A single-person portrait with a visible face works better than a group shot or a cropped forehead.
3. Left backing vocalist
Photo 3 goes to Back L, as marked in the scene. Keep this person separate from the right backing vocalist in your upload order.
4. Right backing vocalist
Photo 4 goes to Back R. Check the numbered markers before generating so the two backing roles do not get swapped.
5. Saxophonist
Photo 5 replaces the sax player. Choose a sharp face photo without another person in the frame; the template supplies the instrument and performance.

How to make the video

Here is how to make an Outstanding Tiny Desk AI video with the preset. You do not need to record a performance, upload music or write a prompt.

  1. Check the performance

Play the preview with sound and look at the five roles. This is a fixed performance template, not a blank music-video editor. Choose it when you want that staging and shot sequence with a different cast.

  2. Assign all five people

Sign in with Google, then add a separate photo to every numbered slot. Use photos you have permission to use. Review the lead, keys, Back L, Back R and sax assignments before continuing.

  3. Choose quality and generate

Select 480p, 720p or 1080p and check the credit total shown above the photos. Confirm photo permissions and submit once. The task runs in the background; the task menu and My videos show its status.

  4. Download and finish

When the task finishes, open My videos and download the MP4. Check faces and motion before sharing. Keep the full clip, or make a separate vertical 15-second edit in CapCut without changing the original download.

Where the clip comes from

The reference point is Charlie Wilson’s NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert, published June 5, 2023. The official set list ends with “Outstanding.” The AI remake replaces the performers while keeping the small office-band setting and performance structure. Watch NPR Music’s official Charlie Wilson concert.

The current template follows a roughly 19.03-second reference excerpt. For a 15-second post, trim a copy of your completed MP4 rather than expecting the generator to shorten the original performance.

This is an independent creation tool, not an NPR or Charlie Wilson product. Generated audio is not a promise of the original recording, original vocals or exact lyrics. Check music rights before publishing; a publicly viewable concert is not a reuse licence.

Can you make it for free?

Looking for a tiny desk AI video generator free of charge? The preview and this tutorial are free. Personalized video generation on Rap Your Life uses paid credits; there is no unlimited free generation offer.

A manual, potentially free edit

Start with your own photos and footage you may reuse. In CapCut, try a short project using only the free tools and assets available to your account. A photo montage or manually positioned cutout can make an office-band joke, but it does not automatically replace five moving performers or produce reliable lip-sync.

Before building the full edit, export a tiny sample. Check whether your account requires payment, adds branding or limits resolution. AI trials and free credits depend on the tool, account, region and current offer; they are not a guaranteed free route to this exact five-person result. CapCut free-tier guidance.

The ready-made AI template

The preset handles the five role assignments and video request together. It costs 200 credits at 480p, 400 at 720p or 800 at 1080p. The price is for the complete cast, not five separate per-person charges.

A $4.99 pack contains 150 credits, so that single pack is not enough for this template’s 200-credit minimum. The lowest-priced single pack that covers a 480p generation is $9.90 for 300 credits. Existing credit balances can also be used.

Credits never expire. Packs are one-time purchases; selecting this template does not start a subscription.

Make a 9:16, 15-second cut

This optional CapCut edit starts after you have an MP4, or after you assemble your own permitted clips. It changes the finished edit, not the generator’s fixed adaptive setting. Keep a copy of the source video.

  1. Set the vertical canvas

Create a project, import the MP4 and put it on the timeline. Set the canvas or aspect ratio to 9:16. Fit the clip inside the frame if cropping would cut off a performer; if you fill the canvas, check every shot rather than only the opening face.

  2. Keep a complete 15-second moment

Mark a start and an end 15 seconds apart. Split at both points, remove the outside sections and close any gap. Preview the join with audio. Avoid chopping a word or the sax entrance just to hit a number; choose a different 15-second window when needed.

  3. Join shots without losing the cast

If you have separate generated clips, place them in your chosen order: lead, keys, backing singers, sax, then the final group moment. Use simple cuts first. Trim each clip to a shared beat and check that each person keeps the same identity and clothing between shots. Do not use a transition to hide a visibly wrong face.

  4. Check sound and export

Use the generated audio or a track you have permission to use. Export an MP4 at a resolution no higher than the useful detail in your source. Check the saved file for its 15-second duration, 9:16 frame, audio sync and any branding. CapCut’s available free features and watermark rules can differ by account and version.

Five prompts to copy

These are original starting points for a separate AI editor that accepts a reference video and five image references. Results vary by model; these examples have not been tested across every editor. Rap Your Life uses a preset: there is no custom prompt box here.

Attach your permitted reference clip as Video 1 and your photos in the role order shown below. Adapt attachment names to the tool you use. If it cannot accept five identity references, generate shorter shots separately and assemble them in CapCut; a prompt alone cannot add unsupported inputs.

Keep the reference performance

Use the attached permitted reference video as Video 1. Map Image 1 to the lead singer, Image 2 to the keyboard player, Image 3 to the left backing vocalist, Image 4 to the right backing vocalist, and Image 5 to the saxophonist. Keep each identity assigned to its own role across every shot. Preserve visible faces and plausible instrument use. Do not add text or logos. Follow Video 1’s shot order and natural camera motion. Keep the office-band setting, instruments and timing. Replace only the five assigned performers with the supplied people. Use restrained expressions and believable body movement. Avoid extra cast members or changing a person’s identity during a cut.

Office team encore

Use the attached permitted reference video as Video 1. Map Image 1 to the lead singer, Image 2 to the keyboard player, Image 3 to the left backing vocalist, Image 4 to the right backing vocalist, and Image 5 to the saxophonist. Keep each identity assigned to its own role across every shot. Preserve visible faces and plausible instrument use. Do not add text or logos. Create a playful office-band encore with these five people. Keep the lead confident, the keys player focused, the backing singers in time and the sax player ready for a short flourish. Use warm practical office lighting and small celebratory reactions. Keep the humour in the performance, not distorted faces.

Friends at a house concert

Use the attached permitted reference video as Video 1. Map Image 1 to the lead singer, Image 2 to the keyboard player, Image 3 to the left backing vocalist, Image 4 to the right backing vocalist, and Image 5 to the saxophonist. Keep each identity assigned to its own role across every shot. Preserve visible faces and plausible instrument use. Do not add text or logos. Stage an intimate house-concert performance with the same five role assignments. Use a cozy room, relaxed smiles and a close audience viewpoint. Alternate a lead close-up with brief views of the supporting players. Maintain the cast’s individual facial features, consistent clothing and stable instruments throughout.

Vintage soul session

Use the attached permitted reference video as Video 1. Map Image 1 to the lead singer, Image 2 to the keyboard player, Image 3 to the left backing vocalist, Image 4 to the right backing vocalist, and Image 5 to the saxophonist. Keep each identity assigned to its own role across every shot. Preserve visible faces and plausible instrument use. Do not add text or logos. Give the five-person performance a vintage soul-session look with warm light, rich natural colours and gentle camera movement. Keep the identities recognizable and the staging compact. Focus on the lead’s expression, the keys player’s rhythm and a final sax reaction. Use original or licensed audio rather than copying a singer’s voice.

A vertical social edit

Use the attached permitted reference video as Video 1. Map Image 1 to the lead singer, Image 2 to the keyboard player, Image 3 to the left backing vocalist, Image 4 to the right backing vocalist, and Image 5 to the saxophonist. Keep each identity assigned to its own role across every shot. Preserve visible faces and plausible instrument use. Do not add text or logos. If this editor supports these settings, create a 15-second 9:16 performance. Keep the lead inside the vertical safe area and show each supporting role in a deliberate cut. Preserve all five identities. Finish on a natural musical beat, with no looping outro or freeze frame. If duration or ratio is unsupported, retain the source format for later editing.

Before you generate again

If someone appears in the wrong role, check the upload order first. If a face is hard to recognize, replace a dark, angled or obstructed photo with a clearer portrait. If the five-person shot feels crowded after a vertical crop, fit the whole picture or use closer shots in your manual edit. These checks can improve the inputs; they do not guarantee a perfect generation.

What “no watermark” means

Rap Your Life does not add its own logo overlay to the downloaded MP4. That does not remove text or logos already in reference material, guarantee that an AI model never renders a mark, or control branding added by another editor. Inspect the completed video rather than treating “no watermark” as a promise of cleared music or footage rights.

Tiny Desk AI questions

Do I need exactly five photos?
Yes. This template requires one photo for each of five roles: lead singer, keyboard player, left backing vocalist, right backing vocalist and saxophonist. It is not a one-photo or two-photo template.
Is there a free Outstanding Tiny Desk AI template?
You can watch the template preview and read the prompts for free. A personalized generation on Rap Your Life is paid: 200, 400 or 800 credits for 480p, 720p or 1080p. Free editing or AI trials elsewhere do not guarantee the same result.
Does this generator output 9:16 and 15 seconds?
This template currently uses adaptive framing and follows its reference for about 19.03 seconds. You can make a separate 9:16, 15-second edit from the MP4 in CapCut. Those are editing choices, not selectable settings in this generator.
Can I paste these prompts into Rap Your Life?
No. The generator uses a preset prompt and accepts your five photos and resolution choice. The copyable prompts are examples for a separate compatible AI editor, not additional settings in this template.
Will I get the original Outstanding song and voice?
The template generates audio, but does not promise the original master recording, exact lyrics or a clone of Charlie Wilson’s voice. No voice recording or music upload is required. Check the resulting audio and any music licence before sharing.
Where do I download my finished video?
After generation completes, open My videos in your account to view and download the MP4. Rap Your Life does not add its own logo overlay. Uploaded photos remain in your private history until you delete them.
